Peer Support

Through our daily buddy text check-ins, we learned that a simple text message with positive communication can change one's mood and help support them throughout the day. We chose to include an example of one our text exchanges through this tab on our website and also highlight how others can communicate with their friends, families, and peers through texting and positive communication in person.

Examples of Positive Peer Support

Quick text check in asking how someone is doing that day.

•Quick phone call to check in with someone you think may be struggling.

•Positive greeting or goodbye.

•Supportive communication to peers or friends you suspect may be struggling.

Positive Peer Support

"Hey Chris hope all is well just wanted to let you know I won't be in class today I'm feeling sick. Please let me know if there is anything I missed."
"No worries, feel better! I will keep you updated."
This is a great example as it highlights simple yet positive mental health communication. Not prying, but respectful, helpful, and positive.
